Volunteer Opportunities

The Ronald McDonald House was created by volunteers, and we are always seeking new volunteers to add to our team. There are several different volunteer opportunities at our Houses. Help us make a “home-away-from-home” … Get involved today!

*We are unable to accommodate court ordered or lawyer suggested community service requests.

Volunteer

We have multiple opportunities for individual volunteers at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern North Carolina.
You must be 16 (sixteen) years or older to volunteer inside our Maynard Children’s Hospital location and 18 (eighteen) years or older to volunteer at our house on Moye Blvd.
To become an individual volunteer, you must commit to at least 2 (two) shifts a month for a minimum of 6 (six) months.

Help keep RMHC of ENC at Maynard Children’s Hospital open and welcoming to all families with a child admitted to the hospital.
Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks to ensure the house runs smoothly, including welcoming families at the front desk, answering phones, baking snacks, hosting simple activities, and helping maintain a clean and organized space.
Baking Volunteers
  • Help fill RMHC of ENC with the warmth of freshly made treats. You’re welcome to use our on-site ingredients or bring your own special or ‘secret’ additions to share a little extra love. In addition to baking, volunteers are responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen during and after their shift.
Front Desk Volunteers
  • Front Desk volunteers support the daily operations of RMHC of ENC by assisting with guest and House needs. This role includes answering the phone and door, welcoming and assisting guests, and helping with basic administrative tasks.
Family Services Volunteers
  • This role supports the programs and resources that enhance a family’s stay but are not essential to their day-to-day lodging. Volunteers in Family Services assist with a variety of family-centered programs, including but not limited to activity preparation and support, organizing and restocking diapers, clothing, and toys, assisting with bereavement resources, and helping bring holidays to life through decorating and seasonal activities.
Hospitality Helpers
  • Hospitality Helpers support RMHC of ENC by assisting wherever help is needed to keep the House running smoothly. This flexible role helps fill gaps across volunteer areas and focuses on maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for families.
  • Duties may include light cleaning tasks, organizing common spaces, stocking and inventorying donations, and assisting with general House needs.
