How to Stay

Learn more about how to stay at one of our homes so you can focus on your child's health.

How can I stay?

Coordinate with a social worker or case manager at the hospital where your child will receive treatment. He or she will place your name on the waiting list for the day that you intend to arrive. Because each child’s treatment is unique, a family’s stay at the House is unpredictable. Therefore, we are unable to confirm room reservations for your stay prior to your arrival.

Who can stay?

Any child under the age of 21 receiving medical treatment at the hospital or at a local medical facility, living at home, still dependent on parents, and/or receiving treatment in a pediatric setting is eligible to stay. This policy also covers those patients meeting the above criteria who are located in the SICU or TICU areas of the hospital or seeking out-patient treatments. All families should reside outside Pitt County and live at least 30 miles away unless there is a transportation issue or critical illness which needs to be considered.

Expectant Mothers

If an expectant mother is about to deliver a baby, or the hospital is concerned with complications due to prematurity or other issues, the family will qualify to request a room.  If the mother is hospitalized and the doctors are medicating her to prevent delivery as long as possible, that family may be eligible to stay.  The referring social worker will make that decision.
